How to play Wonderwall
Wonderwall is the single most requested campfire song in guitar history, and it is also one of the easiest songs with a capo you can learn. Everything hangs on four chords — Em7, G, Dsus4 and A7sus4 — played with a relaxed eighth-note strum.
The trick that makes it sound right is the capo on fret 2: the recorded song sits between E minor and F minor, and the capo lets you play simple open shapes. Keep your third and fourth fingers planted on the B and high E strings for the whole verse — Em7 and Dsus4 share those frets, so the changes feel almost lazy.
The pre-chorus lifts with Cadd9 before it falls back into the verse riff, and the chorus is exactly the same four chords as the verse. If your A7sus4 buzzes, try fretting it as x-0-2-0-3-0. Start slow, hit the low strings on the downbeat, and let the top strings ring on the upstrokes.
